The US ambassador to Israel has described the ongoing Israeli genocide in Gaza, which entered its 700th day on Friday, as a “battle of the ages” and a confrontation between heaven and hell.
In an interview with CBN News on Thursday, Michael Dale Huckabee described Israel’s war in Gaza as a “vertical battle,” insisting that it must be understood as a struggle between good and evil.
“This is not horizontal. It is not left, right, liberal, or conservative. This is a vertical battle. It is Heaven versus Hell. It is good versus evil,” Huckabee claimed.
He said that the war does not stem from social or economic conditions but originates from demonic forces.
He emphasized that Christian believers worldwide must acknowledge this reality to comprehend the war’s scope fully.
Huckabee also called on Christians in the United States and abroad to stand with Israel, not merely in support of its ruling body, but because Israel, he claimed, represented the Abrahamic faith, divine law, and Western civilization’s foundation.
Portraying Israel’s critics as aligned with destructive forces, Huckabee claimed that the Palestinian resistance movement Hamas and other Palestinian resistance groups threaten not only Jews but also Christianity itself, framing their actions as a danger to both religions.
The ambassador condemned the United Nations’ stance toward Israel as “insane,” accusing the organization of harboring unprecedented levels of anti-Semitism.
Huckabee also supported Israel’s controversial E1 plan for massive new settlements in the occupied West Bank.
Speaking on Israeli Army Radio, he claimed the extensive development of settlements does not violate international law and that the US would not oppose it.
Meanwhile, the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) has confirmed that as of August 15, 2025, famine (IPC Phase 5) exists in Gaza Governorate, with strong evidence of starvation, destitution, and widespread civilian deaths.
After 22 months of genocide, IPC reported that over half a million people face catastrophic conditions in Gaza, with 1.07 million in Emergency (IPC Phase 4) and 396,000 experiencing Crisis (IPC Phase 3).
Between mid-August and late September 2025, famine was projected to expand into Deir al-Balah and Khan Yunis.
Nearly a third of Gaza’s population is also expected to face catastrophic hunger, with acute malnutrition worsening rapidly.
The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and former minister of military affairs Yoav Gallant, “for the war crime of starvation as a method of warfare; and the crimes against humanity of murder, persecution, and other inhumane acts.”
Since Israel began its campaign of genocide in Gaza, at least 64,368 Palestinians have been killed and 162,776 others have been injured, the overwhelming majority being women and children, according to Gaza’s health officials.
