Israel was essentially created and effectively turned into an American military base whose purpose is to protect regional stolen natural resources, says a US-based activist, adding that the US and Israel represent “the greatest threat to the survival of humanity.”
Mike Ferner, a long-time anti-war activist and former national director of Veterans for Peace, said in an interview with the Press TV website that the Israeli regime is emboldened by Western support to carry out acts of aggression, such as the recent one against Iran.
“We saw that when Trump allegedly told Netanyahu to turn Israel’s fighter jets back around,” he said, referring to the recent 12-day Israeli-American war of aggression against the Islamic Republic, which led to the martyrdom of nearly 1,000 Iranians.
“The United States could end all of this tomorrow if it wanted to…but as the #1 weapons dealer and mass murderer, it does not want to end its wars…because war is profitable.”
Ferner, who was arrested in New York on Tuesday for protesting the US complicity in Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza, said the US government has been “hijacked by fascists and fascism.”
“The war machine is one arm of fascism that is overdue in being cut off. The United States and its allies have become the Axis of Evil of the 21st century,” he stated.
Commenting on the subservience of international organizations—including the United Nations—to the US, and the brazen violation of international law by successive governments in Washington, the veteran anti-war activist said those in power are beholden to “money, greed, selfishness and corporate donors,” while governments and organizations around the world are held captive by the same forces out of fear.
“These warmongers have been running the world for quite some time now, and their tired playbook of bribery & blackmail continues to work on impure, corruptible, narcissistic politicians. So, if we’re going to work within the framework of our established government systems that ushered in fascism and its war machine arm, we’re going to have to change our credentials for the types of humans that we’re electing to office…in addition to getting money out of politics,” Ferner told the Press TV website.
“So, what that tells us about these international bodies and international law has been rendered useless because they are bought and paid for or lack the moral courage to stand up to the bully mass murderer.”
Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has written to UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, urging the world body to identify Israel and the US as aggressors. However, there is very little likelihood of the world body taking any action. Ferner said Iran and its allies “know far better than anyone what their best options are.”
“What I feel the other countries of the world should be asking themselves is what they should be doing to stop the United States and Israel, knowing that they are the new Axis of Evil and should act accordingly,” he said.
“And to put that into actionable terms — Boycott American and Israeli goods. Period. Money is the Empire’s lifeblood.”
On why the US has allowed itself to be hijacked by the Israeli regime—evident in the way it intervened in the war against Iran in the middle of nuclear diplomacy between Tehran and Washington—the activist, who was awarded the 2025 Joe A. Callaway Award for his activism, said politics is “mere theatre.”
“The United States has had Iran in its sights for a long while now. But make no mistake, Trump illegally went around Congress to launch this strike and that’s an impeachable offense…and he should be impeached,” Ferner told the Press TV website.
“But yet again, our government is beholden to bribery and blackmail, so we effectively have a fascist dictator at his beginning…who has a cohort of war criminals behind him.”
He hastened to add that people around the world should understand how dangerous these two war criminals are—Trump and Netanyahu—and how unwilling they will be to relinquish power at the risk of being held accountable for their mass murderous war crimes.
“And how that state terror that had been released in foreign lands comes home to roost in a police state ushered in under the Trojan horse of keeping ‘dangerous, illegal immigrants’ out by approving a 20x increase in budget for Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE),” he said.
“In short, the greatest threat to the survival of humanity are the United States, Israel and their allies. And the threat needs to be dealt with immediately. Boycott Israel and the United States like it’s our full-time job…for the future of humanity.”
