These systems were designed for swift and efficient
performance. Though some room still remains there to make it more
efficient and user-friendly. You can make certain tweaks to your Windows
10 to make it run faster and smoother.

Disable Unnecessary Startup Programs
One
major reason behind the sluggish performance of your system is
considered to be slow boot time due to a lot of unnecessary programs
that run at startup. Stop all such programs from running at boot time by
heading to Task Manager. To open Task Manager, Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc
or right-click on the lower-left corner of your system to open the menu
and select Task Manager from there. It will open a compact window now
tap on “More Details” button. The task manager will now appear in a
full-options window with a list of all programs and services that launch
when you start Windows. To stop service or program from launching at
boot time, right-click on the program and select “Disable” option. This
step will prevent program or service running at Startup only. You can
launch that program anytime later after startup process.
Disable Transparency and Special effects
Transparency
and special effects consume a lot of system resources and make Windows
10 slow. To recover these precious system resources, disable these
effects. To disable transparency effect, go to Start menu > Settings
> Personalization > Colors and toggle off “Make Start, taskbar and
action center transparent” option.
To
disable special effects, go to Start menu > System > click on
Advanced system settings to open System Properties menu. Now select
Settings and Performance to open Performance Options menu. Now under
Visual Effects tab either select “Adjust for best performance” to turn
off all unnecessary effects and animations or select Custom to deselect
any unnecessary visual effect (s). Click OK to apply your changes.
Remove unnecessary files
Your
system accumulates a lot of unnecessary files over time that occupies a
lot of disk space affecting system performance negatively. These
unnecessary files include temporary files, log files, cache &
cookies, duplicate files and other junk files. When we talk about
duplicate files on your system they accumulate in large number in form
of duplicate music files, audio files, video files, pictures, and lot
more. You can remove these duplicate files manually or you can use
certain files to instantly recover some disk space on your system.
Launch the Windows troubleshooter
Windows
10 offers an in-built tool to fix performance related problems on your
system. To launch Windows Troubleshooter, go to Start menu and type
“troubleshooting” in the search box. Select “troubleshooting Control
Panel” from the given options. Now click on “Run maintenance tasks” in
the System and Security section of the screen. It will open a screen
titled “Troubleshoot and help prevent computer problems” click Next. It
will automatically find all files and shortcuts that you generally don’t
use and find other performance related issues, report them to you and
then help you fix them.
